Election ‘22 Buckfield voter guide: Buckfield Select Board

What does the select board do?

The select board is made up of five members. These members oversee the town budget development and proposal, set policies, oversee town departments and committees, create regulations, and call the town meeting and elections. They meet twice per month on the first and third Tuesdays. Click this link to see each current board member's contact information.

What part of Maine is electing this person?

The town of Buckfield. All five select board members represent all of Buckfield: An individual select board member does not represent, for example, certain streets or neighborhoods in town; everyone represents everyone.

How long do select board members serve?

Three years, but only some of the seats turn over at the same time (terms are staggered so we’re not electing an entirely new board every three years). However, in a special election such as this one, the new board member will only serve the remainder of the term they are taking over. The open seat on this ballot is for a term ending in June of 2023.
