How can we honor the Abenaki, their land and their culture?
The following requests were gathered from the Abenaki and other Indigenous voices we at Equity Buckfield listen to and learn from, many of whom were listed in yesterday’s post:

First and foremost, we can recognize that the Abenaki are still here.

We can learn where they lived and where they are now and acknowledge that we are on their ancestral land.

We can help them revive their language.

We can support their efforts for tribal recognition in the United States.

We can support tribal sovereignty for all of the Wabanaki Confederacy tribes.

We can learn other ways to honor them by listening to their voices.

We can help educate others.
